About Adult Education Association
The Adult Education Association, U.T. Chandigarh is an Educational Organization. This organization was established in 1978 by the initiative of Padma Shri late Shri K.L.Zakir. The Association was established to organize multidimensional Skill Training Programmes for adults, writers’ workshops for preparing teaching learning materials to remove illiteracy and ignorance among the adults. During the 44 years’ of its functioning the Association organized a large number of short term and long term Polyvalent Educational Programmes for the adults in the organized and unorganized sectors and other educationally, economically and socially neglected segments of the society. The basic idea behind these activities is to create awareness among the adults especially boys and girls/women from socio-economically weaker sections of the society regarding importance of literacy, their rights, national integration, social evils, cordial relations, respect for women. It is also to motivate them to participate in the activities of nation building. A number of seminars, conferences, workshops at national level and state level have been organized from time to time. In these activities eminent persons have been participating for promoting the adult education programme in India. Adult Education Association is also a parent organization of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Chandigarh, Sponsored by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India. Jan Shikshan Sansthan was established in 1984 under the aegis of Adult Education Association, U.T. Chandigarh. Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Chandigarh is functioning effectively and it was conferred NLM – UNESCO Award to its Founding Father Padma Shri Late Shri K.L.Zakir, in 2007 by the then President of India for the best Institution in India.
